I have a MS Word problem.

Does anyone know what carriage returns or carriage markers are? I fear I've just annoyed an editor at an online magazine who told me I submitted a story that will be a pain to reformat if they decide to accept it. The story used to have paragraphs separated by a space, but they wanted the paragraphs indented instead. I don't know how to change that except to manually click backwards and press tab to indent, which apparently will cause problems with their template. Is there any quick way to switch?

In other words, does anyone know a quick way to change paragraphs that are separated by a space into paragraphs that have no spaces and are indented? Example:

This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space. This is a paragraph separated by a space.

This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.This is a paragraph separated by a space.

I need my paragraphs to be indented without any spaces separating them.

Argh, what the heck are they using? :( You could go into the Page Set-up...but I don't know. You should ask them what version of MS Word they're using. I bet there might be online tutorials if you Google them.

Good luck! I wish I could help more!

For the indented paragraphs... Select the text got to the menu Format -> Paragraph and look what you have there in your options. Can't help you more as I have only Polish version of MS Word, so you'll have to play with the options on your own :/ I don't know what the rest of options is called in English. As for the spaces? You mean the paragraphs separated by one additional "enter"? or just having some space between them added through the "Paragraph" settings? If te first one, then I remember changing it one with using "Replace with" option, but I can't remember what exactly I did .__.

if you set the view to "show invisible codes" you can get it to show you the paragraph/hard return symbol. Maybe you used "find and replace" to replace double-hard-return-symbol with a single one?

Something like that only that I was replacing soft-return symbol with hard-return symbols. Back then I had no idea what their names were and it took me some time to realize it. It slipped my mind completely.
